On Friday August 10, CTC will be hosting a Rogers Cup themed Social. A doubles Round Robin will happen on all 6 hard courts from 6-8 pm, and then a Women's singles exhibition match will happen at 8:15 pm. Food (wings, smokies, salads) and drinks (wine and beer) will be served during the exhibition match for everyone to socialize, eat and enjoy some great tennis.
The exhibition will feature two of Calgary's best female tennis players. Suzana Sales Cavalcante was a top ranked Brazilian player as a junior and joined the WTA tour at the young age of 13. She went on to post one of the best singles records in NCAA history, playing at West Florida, where she was a two-time Hall of Fame inductee (West Florida and Gulf South Conference). She will be taking on Adelaide Lavery, who is a 17 year old from Hilton Head, South Carolina. She joined the WTA tour at the age of 14 and has signed on to play at Tulane University next year.
We have some amazing door-prizes provided by Inner Balance Spa and the whole event will be hosted by Club Head Pro Simon Lavery and MC extraordinaire, Mr. Calgary, Patrick Thomas. The cost for this fun-filled evening is only $10. Please sign-up and pay online to guarantee your spot - space for the RR is limited to 48 people but anyone can join for food, drink and the exhibition afterwards if they want. On the spot registrations Friday evening will be allowed if we still have space in the RR; and yes, you can play in the RR without paying the $10 and then not stick around for the event, but the 48 spots will be given priority to those who paid the $10 entry for the whole evening.
